YBhg. Datuk Kamil OthmanDatuk Kamil Othman reached a pivotal point in his career when he assumed the role of Vice President at the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) which resulted in the implementation of an industry development framework that took Malaysian animation to global heights, including co-productions with South Korea, Australia and the USA. In 2012, he produced "Saladin," a co-production between Malaysia and Qatar that received a nomination for the International Emmy Awards. Datuk Kamil then served as the Director General of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) from 2014 to 2016, where he played a crucial role in drafting the Australia-Malaysia Film Co-Production Treaty and establishing the Museum of Moving Image and the Cinematheque. In 2017, he was appointed as the Advisor on Creative Industries to the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. Datuk Kamil has now been reappointed as the Chairman of FINAS to uplift, nurture, and facilitate the development of the Malaysian film industry through strategic initiatives. |
