Claz’room College Students Stepped Up in Community Gotong Royong Event to Combat Dengue Outbreak
Claz’room College students recently participated in a Gotong Royong activity called “Search & Destroy,” in collaboration with Bantu (formerly known as Malaysian Red Crescent Society) – an organisation dedicated to humanitarian acts and services that has a reputation for going above and beyond to make a positive impact in the community.
The event was held at Padang Awam USJ 12 on 25 March 2023, and it was graced by important dignitaries, including YB Wong Chen, the Member of Parliament for the Subang constituency, YB Michelle Ng, the State Assemblywoman of Subang Jaya, Dato Nor Azman Abdul Rahman, the Chairman of USJ12, Puan Jen from the Municipal Council of Subang Jaya (MBSJ), and Brendan Tan, the Chairman of Bantu.
The main objective of the event was to instil a sense of community service while promoting awareness and prevention of dengue fever. To accomplish this, the organisers invited officers from Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM), Bomba, and the Police to provide expert advice and demonstrate practical methods for preventing Aedes mosquitoes. Following the briefing, the students were divided into groups to clean up Padang Awam USJ 12 and eliminate any potential dengue breeding grounds.
Once the students were done cleaning, they enjoyed some well-deserved food and drinks while engaging in a Q&A session with YB Wong Chen. The Member of Parliament for the Subang constituency patiently answered all their curious questions, leaving the students feeling inspired and empowered. In conclusion, the Search & Destroy event was a remarkable success, educating students on the significance of giving back to the community.
